ASIC register type and licence codes

Reference for ASIC professional register codes RA, RQ, OQ, SP, FP, DD, BS and BF, plus licence ban types, suspension reasons and licence statuses.

Besides the companies register, ASIC maintains a set of registers about people and firms: registered auditors, registered and official liquidators, securities and futures industry participants and their authorised representatives, and the people who have been banned or disqualified from those industries or from managing corporations. Each register has a two-letter code, and the entries on them carry their own small code tables for status, suspension reasons, ban types and pre-1991 legislation. This page collects all of them in one place so you can decode a register extract without guessing.

Where it appears in the API

  • register path segment and register.code on results from GET /v1/registers, the free browse GET /v1/registers/{register}/entries, the purchase POST /v1/registers/{register}/entries/{number}/extracts and the read GET /v1/registers/{register}/entries/{number} (see purchasing). Uses the register types table.
  • licences[].type on a person record uses the person licence and register roles table (see office holder role codes); licences[].licenceStatus uses the licence statuses table.
  • licences[].type on GET /v1/companies/{id}/relationships, read from a purchased relational extract, uses the company licence types table.
  • suspensions[].reason on a professional register extract uses the suspension reasons table; registration.preAsicLegislation uses the pre-ASIC legislation table; tradingNames[].type uses the register trading types table; addresses[].type uses the register address types table.
  • bans[].type on a banned representative extract (BS, BF) uses the licence ban types table.
  • authorities[].type on an authorised representative extract (SP, FP) uses the authorities held table.
  • status on register entries uses the register status table.

Modern AFS licences

The securities and futures registers above reflect the licensing regime that ended with the Financial Services Reform Act 2001. Current Australian financial services licensees and their authorised representatives are published by ASIC through separate professional registers that are outside the scope of these tables; the FL, FR and FX codes on person and company records are the only place they appear here.
